GDPR and the Event Industry: What You Should Know about Cybersecurity under Europe’s New GDPR

While most US businesses struggle to understand their duties to protect data under US laws, on May 25, 2018, Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect.  This new law puts the data subject in control and businesses around the world in the cross-hairs.  The fines for non-compliance are daunting – up to 20 million Euros or 4% of global income, whichever is greater.  Meanwhile, American business remains the most attractive target, and hackers have begun to use artificial intelligence to infiltrate even small business networks.  Learn whether GDPR affects your business and hear about compliance and breach reporting experiences from both Europe and the United States.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Learn how to interpret the GDPR regulation and determine if/how it affects your business (applies to suppliers, vendors, corporations, associations, etc.)
  2. Gain knowledge about compliance and breach reporting
  3. Learn about common misconceptions with this regulation and how to better prepare your organization
